Intro/Feedback thread

Post by Lady Nerevar »

Hey all!

Welcome to the halcyon days of 2006ish.

It's going to take me a little while to set everything up, but feel free to say Hi in this thread and let me know what sort of newfangled turn of the millennium features I'm missing. I'm thinking spoiler tags would be a nice place to start.

Exciting stuff! I cannot wait for this to take off :D Thank you for all the hard work, LadyN.

To start off the intros: DrNightstone here! A big TES series and lore fan for more than a decade. I was a lurker in the OG forums but started being more active when the herd was moving on to r/TESlore and Discord. Nowadays, I write apocryphas, roleplays, and partake in the occasional lore chat.

As for forum improvements, I have never used phpBB before but I was wondering, is there a "dark theme" mode. I know it is still early days but would definitely improve the look on my end.

Night mode now available!
  • Go to your user settings (top right)
  • Click the Board Settings tab
  • Under My Board Style, select Damaio
  • Hit submit. The forum will look different!
  • Look at the very top of the forum, left of your profile tab. There will be a little sun icon - click it, and the board will turn dark.
(For new members and guests, the Damaio theme is default, so they can skip down to the last step)

Glad to see this place. Brings back many memory of old message boards. Hopefully we can get a thriving community built here.

Hey everyone! Super excited about this project, I miss OG forums so much. Really hope it takes off!

For a little bit about myself- I've enjoyed TES games since 2002 and have many fond memories of playing Morrowind back in the day and binging Skyrim during winter break in uni. But despite that, I would actually call myself a fairly new fan of the world of TES lore. It wasn't until 2018 that I got invested and I have ESO to thank for that, where after reading every lorebook I could get my hands on in-game I turned to UESP and The Imperial Library and promptly devoured as much content as I could.

Morrowind and the Dunmer are the key points of my interest but I of course like pretty much everything in the wonderful world of Tamriel. I co-lead an RP guild called Heralds of Nerevar on ESO with my husband Orillion and we also maintain a community RP discord for Morrowind/Dunmer fans on ESO. I like to roleplay, write stories when I can, make TES-related art, brainstorm/world build, and work on designing a Roll20 tabletop system that Orillion and I created.

Hiya, feels like I've just recently done one of these introductions... :D

I've been a fan since about 2013, and part of the larger community since 2014, beginning with Skyrim (of course), got my start in the German TES wikia, which led me to all the other corners of the lore, and where I pretty much had my only experience with oldschool forums like this, so any feature here will probably be an improvement. I used to be an admin there too, but in recent years I've not actually done all that much in the games or outside of Discord servers and my TES TTRPG sessions (I'm not the only one there, I see!), hopefully this'll get me more involved again. I'm enthusiastic about all kinds of weird and head-spinning lore!

Since this is a feedback thread and because I might dabble a bit more in apocryphas now, should we make a new thread for each (independent) apoc in the art section or keep them more contained? Not like I'm gonna flood the place, but I wanted to make sure.

I was thinking one thread per project, but if you prefer to just have a single thread for all your works that's cool too :)

Hi all-

No feedback. I love forums and miss using them.

I am Orillion,
I started back in Morrowind which came out when I had just become a teenager. My friends and I would each take turns playing and whoever died first the next person go to create a character and go until they died.

I am a full-time student, father, and I work in finance. My hobby time is split between biking, DMing, painting Warhammer figurines, and roleplay, which my wife and I primarily do on ESO with some tabletop flair. I have aspirations to get into the narrative space in the gaming industry after I finish my PM program.

My favorite lore podcast (if you can call it that) was the ElderLore podcast that ran till about 2014. RIP. Outside of that I really enjoy

re forum feedback: is it so that I can't edit posts more than once? (a bad habit of mine, but it's not my first language and I always find some detail to fix after the fact). Or do I overlook the button?

Edit: test
Edit2: test - here it works. Hmm.

Edit3: and now, three clicks and three minutes later, it does not work anymore. Mysterious forum! I need to learn it again.

I think there's a time limit to how long from original post you can edit, I'll look into upping it

Heyo! Some of you know me, or I quietly know you from decades in the community; I mostly lurk silently absorbing as much information as I can, but I'm slightly more involved in the community on Twitter. I played Daggerfall way back when, but I fell in love with the series with Morrowind, and have been a semi-active TESO player since beta.
Now I'm a writing lead for Skywind, guiding and supporting our Writing department as we endeavor to bring Morrowind to new life.

Seeing so many familiar names is like feeling the morning sun's warmth upon my face. Hello all!
When I first became part of the TES community in 2007-8 it was almost entirely on the TES modding board over on the official forums, as a user rather than a creator. It wasn't until... mmm maybe 2010 that I became more heavily involved in the lore community, first on the official forms then on the The Imperial Library. I've never really been a big content creator - mod wise or writing wise - but I've always been around to share my thoughts on stuff, do a little research, and have a little fun.

Definitely miss the good ye 'olde forum days. Happy to be here with ya'll!

Sweet, I've never been a part of any forums like this, but always wanted to, and I've been wanting to get back to looking into tes lore/ the community. So this is perfect!

Anyways, hey, I'm Jason.. I haven't been around the tes lore scene for as long as some of you, only about 3 years or so. And I'm mostly a lurker, going by www-jason-com on reddit when I do end up posting anything.

Happy to be here!

Haute Quêteure, at your service. Amongst other stellar achievements, I've been banned from r/Teslore like 7 different times.

Aramithius checking in here, back for something like a new taste of my first addiction.

Originally got onboard with Morrowind in 2002-3ish, BSF poster and lurker not long after that. Followed the migrations, but I miss the original forums the most. Will try and be a little more active than before on here, but the Atlantic continues to be a problem, no matter how hard I push this island.

One thought on a feature, does this setup support notifications for @Name pings? Or is that a bad idea?
